Welcome[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

Someone using this IP address, 94.255.152.53, removed content without giving an explanation. Please always provide an informative edit summary when removing content from pages. If 94.255.152.53 is a shared IP address and you did not do this, you may wish to consider getting a username to avoid confusion with other editors and further irrelevant notices.

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

@The Herald: Why didn't you give me a link to the edit revision? Most likely it was not a test. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 18:16, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Low-alcohol beer (Diff ~1213544182)
That was unexplained content removal with link pipe to an unrelated redundant article. Please use edit summaries from next time to explain your edits with rationale for the change. — The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:19, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be completely honest, I was just about to replace "alcohol (drug)" with "alcohol by volume" (which I did later) but you reverted it a few seconds earlier. So it was not a test. @The Herald: --94.255.152.53 (talk)

I've been following your recent edits, well over a hundred of them now, all doing the same thing (as above). In a couple of cases, they broke templates (e.g {{About}}, {{For}}) which are meant to redirect readers. I don't see all these links to Alcohol (drug) as particularly helpful; I suspect in many cases, they actually provide a link to the article which is inappropriate for the context of the edited article. In my experience, campaigns to make the same change across a vast group of articles inevitably adds disimprovements to many articles, and for most others, changes of little to no value. I would recommend that you stop doing that. signed, Willondon (talk) 19:24, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry about that, normally I pay attention to these kind of details.. I was copy/pasting in a hurry to edit all articles that were listed in the templates. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 13:05, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also see MOS:SEAOFBLUE. Not every word has to be linked to other articles. Some of your edits (like this one) are totally unnecessary and redundant. Please read up the links provided and change the editing pattern, lest you might end up causing disruption, ending with a block. Thanks and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 19:30, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for raising the concern. I added "Alcohol (drug)" to links found in the templates that is used by its article. Since I added it to over 100 articles, I expect that I made a few mistakes. However, I'm done with the process. However, In overall, I'm happy with my edits, and people have reverted over 30 of my edits (sometimes by myself). I'll try to follow General points on linking style better from now on. Happy editing guys. @The Herald: @Willondon:

@JustAnAmateurEditor1: It's ok, I reused the table for other projects since it took 120 minutes. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 02:05, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inhalant. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. It appears you are in an edit war on the page "inhalant". Please stop. Edit warring is destructive and disruptive. I did not restore the Inhalant page after you reverted it, please check facts before you accuse people @JustAnAmateurEditor1:. I humbly said that I merged it to other projects. Specifically, I merged it to Draft:Comparison_of_inhalants. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 16:22, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Trlovejoy: "On Wikipedia, vandalism is editing the project in an intentionally disruptive or malicious manner." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vandalism_on_Wikipedia . Urban legends about drugs says "Many urban legends and misconceptions about drugs". @Trlovejoy: reverted my addition and issued me a ban warning. Please leave feedback @Diannaa: --94.255.152.53 (talk) 02:54, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry you got templated. It was probably your header that read "Absinthe makes you hallucinate" that made the patroller mistake your addition for vandalism. — Diannaa (talk) 03:08, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa: Thank you for helping out again. Please restore Urban legends about drugs @Trlovejoy:. You can change the header "Absinthe makes you hallucinate" to something else if you think it was confusing. Best. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 05:38, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"Misconception about absinthe" would have been a better header, as absinthe does not actually make you hallucinate. — Diannaa (talk) 12:03, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given the title of the article, that should not be needed; headers are presumed to be in relation to the article title. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:31, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks all for the great comments and notes regarding the rollback. After another look, with the title of the article and header I was quick to revert based on the header and addition, there were several other topical vandalism actions occurring at the same time. I tend to agree with Diannaa that there is a better header. My apologies for my error.
94.255.152.53, please create an account - there are many benefits! TRL (talk) 00:47, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Trlovejoy: I accept your apology, and I'm grateful that you removed the level 4 warning I received from you earlier. I understand that you just made a human error. Thank you. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 03:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Trlovejoy: "I tend to agree with Diannaa that there is a better header." -- Next time your intention is to revert specific content that has been added, avoid Wikipedia:Rollback other revisions that are not related, like "Moonshine". The Moonshine section was added after I adde the Absinthe section, so what was the point of doing a full rollback? I noticed that this is a very common behaviour for patrollers (someone reverted all of this today for example). However, it is time consuming for whoever added the text to have to review and add it back themselves. And OFTEN this is missed enough, and then you are the ones who deleted valuable content to the wiki which is counterproductive. Ok? --94.255.152.53 (talk) 18:05, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please consider making an account - this will help the review process. Unfortunately IP addresses are more likely to be vandalism or destructive editors. With a registered account is more clear of your basis for contributions. Further, edit comments and reliable sources assist with the review processes as well. Thanks for the additional comments and collaboration. Also, thanks for your valuable contributions to the topics! TRL (talk) 03:26, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Trlovejoy: Oh, I understand. I never thought about it, but you're right.
@NatGertler: Thank you very much for restoring the article, and for telling Trlovejoy to Stop vandalism patrolling. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 17:05, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Account?[edit]

You seem to be editing Wikipedia a lot and I was thinking about pinging you but realized that it's not possible to do so with IP's. Certainly there are reasons to create an account and reasons to not create an account but I would say most of the reasons to not create an account can be addressed by choosing a username like "ip_94_255_152_53". So my suggestion would be to create an account, unless you have a compelling reason not to. Mathnerd314159 (talk) 21:56, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello 94.255.152.53! Your additions to Draft:Comparison of inhalants have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source. You must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Our policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:21, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@94.255.152.53 Sebbers probably intends to make self-deprecating remarks relating to his poor grammar. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ please edit my user page! Talk 16:55, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

April 2024[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Pickersgill-Cunliffe. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Alcohol (drug)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 12:23, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Religion and alcohol, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 20:58, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Alcohol[edit]

Alcohol is not generally considered an enthogen. I will be removing your unsupported additions based on the assumption that it is. Skyerise (talk) 18:40, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Skyerise: Let's talk about it first. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 18:42, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, you should have talked about it first. Please read WP:CATV. Every category placed on an article must be supported by text and citations in the article body. If an article does not even mention the word "entheogen" - or mentions it but does not support it with citations - then the category may not be added to the article. You are engaging in original research. Skyerise (talk) 19:07, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, per WP:BRD, any editor may revert to the status quo if they disagree with your edits, and then you must take it to the talk page and get consensus for your change before pursuing it further. So get consensus on the talk oage. Skyerise (talk) 19:09, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Skyerise: Ok, I understand. --94.255.152.53 (talk) 19:11, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Skyerise: Can you please chill a bit, so I can keep on changing the titles like I did here?

April 2024[edit]

I told you above that you have to disuss, not revert. That applies to templates too. I am not the only editor that opposes your attempts to coatrack the template into unrelated articles. Here's your official warning:

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Template:Alcohol and health shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Skyerise (talk) 19:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Skyerise: I'm a bit tired, so it's a bit dramatic with the "edit war" warning for me. However, I wrote that I agreed with you and suggested a template in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Alcohol_and_health#Alcohol_and_religion.

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Nasal administration, you may be blocked from editing. Cassiopeia talk 04:18, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Broc. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Date rape drug, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Broc (talk) 07:57, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you have added some unsourced info and I have removed them. Take this as a warning. Pls provide independent, reliable source if you want to put back the info. You can find the removal info HERE. To provide inline citation pls use the horizontal format of Template:Cite web if the sources are from the web. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 04:16, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again, do not revert again. I have provide you all the remove info above. So you dont need to retype them, but pls provide source for verification as this is the core policy of Wikipedia. If you need help, pls let me know. Cassiopeia talk 04:19, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have sent you a welcome message. You seem editing Wikipedia a lot and I do suggest you to register (see the welcome message). You dont need to provide you real name or your email address to register. All you have to do is to create a user name and remember your password (Wikipedia does not store your pass word and if you dont remember your password you have to re-register as a new user). It is beneficial to you and to be registered for various reasons (for one, we can not ping you in other talk page). We are all here to help, but it is difficult to remember IP address instead of a user name. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 04:26, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
